It is a battle royale! Sun TV Network and its boss the dynamic Kalanidhi Maran is going to release his Sun Pictures new Jeeva film Thenavattu on the same day as Surya’s Gautham Menon masterpiece Vaaranam Aayiram on November 14.

On the face of it, two films releasing in different genre means nothing in Kollywood. But below the grease and paint there is tension in the atmosphere.

Remember how Kalanidhi Maran had to wage a lone battle to get his film Kathalil Vizhunthen released in Madurai, the citadel of his bête-noire Azhagiri?

Well this time around Vaaranam Aayiram is being distributed in Tamilnadu by Azhagiri’s son Dayanidhi’s film concern ‘Cloud Nine’! Kala is determined that his Thenavattuwill release on the same day, leading to tension in the trade.

Sun TV has already started the Thenavattu campaign on the full blast, with its trailer being shown at regular intervals. The film has music by Srikanth Deva, had all its songs re-shot, though the audio is no patch on Harris Jayaraj’s Vaaranam Aayiram which is already a huge hit! Kalaingar TV which holds the television rights of the movie too has whipped up a campaign.

Sun TV bosses are confident that Thenavattu with Jeeva and Poonam Bajwa has a unique treatment by director V.V Kathir, and it may upset the biggie. But Vaaranam Aayiram carries super reports and is expected to take the years biggest ever opening, as advance booking starts in Chennai city from November 10.

Fireworks of what is left over after Diwali can be expected on November 14 as the two films clash.

After the success of the movie Ghajini actor Surya got good audience in Andhra Pradesh. After that movie all his movies are being dubbed in Telugu.His current movie Vaaranam Aayiram is also being dubbed in Telugu titled Surya S/O Krishnan. Vaaranam Aayiram is dubed by Gauam Vasudev Menon.

Vaaranam Aayiram’s audio launch turned out to be a novel function with each of the song released by each one of the celebrity present. The event was held at Satyam Theatres at 8 pm on September 24th. The entire function was handled by Vaaranam Aayiram’s director Gautham Menon. There are seven songs in VA of which six have been penned by lyricist

Thaamarai while one has been written by Naa. Muthukumar. Harris Jayaraj has scored the music.

The first song Adiyae Kolludhey was released by Soundarya Rajinikanth while hero Surya released the song Nenjukkul Peidhidum. Surya’s father and actor Siva Kumar released Mundhinam. Another song Oh Shanthi Shanthi was brought out by the director of the Indian Military Academy Major General Bakshi.

It was Udhayanidhi Stalin’s turn to release Yethi Yethi and director Sasi Kumar took the honors for Ava Enna . Ennul Mele was released collectively by the children of Gautham Menon, Harris Jayaraj, editor Anthony and cinematographer Rathnavelu.

Speaking at the function Surya said that he believed VA’s music will top the charts just like Kaakka Kaakka and Ghajini.

Director Gautham Menon stated that Harris Jayaraj has always shown special interest for his projects and it was only because of Harris he could establish himself in the Telugu film industry. He added VA is all about a person’s life beginning from 16 years and his travails until 60. He said the film will hit the silver screens on October 8th in all probability.

According to Siva Kumar the film will go on to become a great success. He said that Surya’s hard work and commitment to look like a teenager will definitely pay off. The actor added that he has commendable faith in Gautham Menon.

Soundarya Rajinikanth disclosed that she is a great fan of Harris Jayaraj and Gautham Menon. According to her the stills of Surya indicate that the film is on its way to a box office hit.

Those participated in the function include Sameera Reddy, Divya, Meena, Ameer, Sasi Kumar, K.V. Anand, among others.

It looks like Gautham Menon- Surya- Harris Jayaraj Vaaranam Aayiram audio has been grabbed by Sony- BMG at a record price. The audio launch will take place in the last week of September.

Vaaranam Aayiram is the most eagerly awaited audio in the market. Two of its songs have already been leaked on the net. The recent trailer of the film actually highlighted the songs in the film tuned by Harris Jayaraj. Adye Koluthey.. is already very popular among the youth.

One of the songs a 60’s retro style song Mundhinam Parthene.. is expected to rock the charts. The highlight of the song is its picturisation on Surya and Simran against 60’s Madras.

Vaaranam Aayiram is expected to be a Diwali release

Vaaranam Aayiram has been getting delayed with its shooting over for a long time. Director Gowtham whose previous flick Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu had hit the screens before couple of years has raised whole lot of expectations among the masses with this film. Aascar Ravichandran had heard the story without getting script format. Director Gowtham hadn’t planned about shooting and gets onto the spot without any preparations. Be it foreign locations or local spots, he cans the shots, brings it back to processing, check it out whether things have been churned out well, if not re-shoot the scenes. Unbearable Ravichandran had to put an end, taking issue to Producers Council about Gowtham getting on with excess budget expenditure for the film.

However, after sorting out the issues, the film’s shooting is on the final stage. A song sequence involving Surya and Simran has to be done and it would be completed within the schedule of 10 days. Buzzes are that film will hit the screens during the month of September along with Ajith starrer Aegan….

Tamil matinee icon Surya showed off his lean six-pack abs to photographers following eight months of preparation for his role in the forthcoming release ‘Vaaranam Aayiram’.

‘It was the script that inspired me to work towards achieving this look. I felt it would lend more credibility to my character whose age span is between 16 to 65 years’, Surya told media persons Sunday evening.

‘I am aware that millions of my fans will try to emulate me. While I welcome anyone who tries to be fit, I advise all my admirers to allow a diet and exercise regimen monitored by skilled professional trainers like I did’, the actor cautioned.

‘He is the first Tamil hero to achieve such toned abs,’ his publicists claimed.

Directed by Gautham Menon, ‘Vaaranam Aayiram’ has Bollywood actress Sameera Reddy in the female lead.

Menon had directed hit film ‘Kaakka Kaakka’ featuring Surya, a press communique added.

Now his next movie Vaaranam Aayiram seems to posses more when it come to the tracks of emotions. The film centers on the real life encounters between a father and son and its impact on each other’s life.

Director Gowtham speaking on the father-son concept, said that most the scenes in the film are inspired from his real life experiences with the encounters he had with his father. Well, Gowtham is in more depressed moods for his father passed last year and this movie would be a dedication for his dad from Gowtham.
